Science and Outcomes of Allergy and Asthma Research (SOAAR) is a research program based out of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Led by Ruchi Gupta, MD, MPH, the SOAAR team aims to find answers and shape policies surrounding childhood food allergy and asthma.

For over a decade, Dr. Gupta and the SOAAR team have been nationally recognized for their research, specifically for their study on childhood food allergy prevalence in the United States. SOAAR has also significantly contributed to academic research surrounding the economic costs of food allergy, pediatric management of food allergy and asthma, decreasing ED visits and hospitalizations, improving the quality of life of children and caregivers regarding food allergies, and implementing community interventions in schools for students with asthma and other health conditions.
